"We give you the tools to get offline & write more letters."

Letter Writers Alliance

The Letter Writers Alliance is a member based organization dedicated to keeping the art of letter writing alive started in the Summer of 2007 by Kathy Zadrozny and Donovan Beeson. With a combination of both online presence and in person gatherings we strive to give people the tools to maintain the art of letter writing.

With over 2,000 members worldwide, the member site is the biggest part of the Alliance. We offer free printable downloads, exclusive member products, and vintage postal items. The LWA has been included in the letter writing book, Good Mail Day and has been interviewed by the BBC regarding the importance of paper correspondence. At then end of the day, we are happy to see so many people enthusiastic about letter writing. We once thought we were the only ones who did that anymore.

The LWA Mission
In this era of instantaneous communication, a handwritten letter is a rare and wondrous item. The Letter Writers Alliance is dedicated to preserving this art form; neither long lines, nor late deliveries, nor increasing postal rates will keep us from our mission.

As a member of the Letter Writers Alliance, you will carry on the glorious cultural tradition of letter writing. You will take advantage of every opportunity to send tangible correspondence. Prepare your pen and paper, moisten your tongue, and get ready to write more letters!

FAQ

How long does memberhship last? Is there an annual fee to stay a member?
Your membership is LIFETIME. Letter Writers Alliance membership is just a one-time entrance payment and that is all. Once you are in, you are in!

I lost my membercard / forgot my password. What do I do?
If you lost or forgot your password, email us at 16sparrows (at) gmail (dot) com and we'll help you out. Please include your member # if possible. If you lost your member card, you can get a replacement by sending us a SASE to the PO Box. If you remember your member #, write that on your note and we will reassign you the original #, otherwise we will reassign you a member #.

Don't you see the irony of having a letter writing group online?
It is quite an interesting twist - we use technology to enable an analog activity. The website is more of a meeting point and resource to enable more letter writing. The LWA was created in order to unite letter writers; we use the member site as our "club house," if you will. The free downloads and pen pal swap are resources to get members offline and outside with their pen and paper.

So are you anti-technology/email?
Absolutely not. We aren't anti-email, we are just pro real mail. We use technology to connect letter writers as well as to find letter writing inspiration. We love the stuff we can create on our computers and the quick connections we can make with email. We also know that letters are an important part of human communication and are a great way to maintain connections between friends and strangers.

How do you ship LWA items?
We ship everything via Priority Mail so you can track the order and we can ensure it makes it to you. The majority of items fit in a Flat Rate Envelope, which costs $5, so we try to ship them that way when we can. Paypal may charge you a bit more for shipping, but we will refund you any difference between what you were charged and the actual cost of postage.

Do you accept donations?
Yes we do. Our Letter Writing Socials are free events and we always supply free stationery and envelopes. Your donation will help us continue doing this and spread the letter writing love.
