What a wonderful day for tea
So I finally got around to uploading the pictures from the tea party! Originally I planned for it to be outside, but the wonderful day quickly changed to cold and crazy rainy - so inside it was moved.

There was plenty of tasty eats on the table, but my favorite sweet was the thumbprint cookies. We also had cucumber sandwiches, scones, nectarine cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, crab dip, Elena Ruz sandwiches (a Cuban recipe made by Milly), strawberry ginger ale punch and raspberries in Chambord sauce. I'll post some of these recipes next week, but the thumbprint cookie recipe is at the end of this post.

The table was covered with a lace tablecloth I was lucky enough to get on Ebay (there was some heated bidding on that one!). I had sandalwood fans doing the double duty of party favors and place settings. They smelled quite wonderful! I will soon be using these fans in a special summer 16 Sparrows product!
And now, the food chemistry of Thumbprint Cookies!
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Jam of your choice
Vanilla extract to taste
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition (This is if you are making a double batch). Add flour and baking powder.
Roll into balls (just under 1 inch round). Make a dent in the center of each ball with your thumb. Drop some jam into the thumb print.
Bake at 375 F (190 C) for 8-10 minutes until bottoms are lightly browned. Makes 3 dozen.
