Birds of a Feather
It seems Joy and I share an eye for feather facinators. I'm not sure when her desire began, but mine was after I saw the movie Brick. I made plans to replicate the specific style and here is the result:

This is the one from the movie:

I have it on the reverse way than she does - I'm not sure which way I like it more. Anyway, I'm not completely happy with the results, but have two other pelts to experiment on. Perhaps I will even get better photographs with those too.
For those interested in fancy looking feather facinators, I suggest this place. My friend got her custom made from them for her wedding and she looking absolutely wonderful with it (in fact, I think it took the spotlight off her dress and onto the hair piece!).
In a completely unrelated note, I just realized last night that in a mere 4 months I will find myself in graduate school. 120 more days before I am completely engulfed in a sea of reading, researching and writing for 2 years. Hmmm, I better get through my pile of "read me" books now.
